Alpha Jax Gets the Xbox Live Upgrade Treatment This Week

If you have been a Windows Phone faithful since its introduction in 2010, you no doubt have seen or played the excellent Scrabble-like game Alpha Jax. The word-making game has been one of the few jewels from that early era. And now, coming this Wednesday as part of Microsoft’s weekly Xbox Live Game of the Week shindig, it will come to the marketplace with full on Xbox Achievements and leaderboards. The game has been upgraded and recreated for the Xbox Live format. It will contain online play between opponents or friends, 200 GamerScore points, avatar support and live tiles.

As has been with some of other past indie-to-Xbox Live Arcade upgrades, the game will be an ad-supported affair, which means you will be downloading the title free of charge! If you’ve been an avid fan and user of the soon to be old Alpha Jax, well, you’ll be disappointed to know the game will not carry over your stats when it transitions into Xbox Live status. In fact, by the end of the year the indie version of Alpha Jax will cease to work as its servers will be shut down for good.

Nothing lasts forever, and hooray for new beginnings?

Expect the game to reach us shortly this week on Wednesday.
