Using a Micro SD Card to Install Programs

Recently, concerns were raised about the amount of operating system reserved storage on of the Microsoft Surface Pro. Here is how you can use Windows 8 to install programs to an SD card (without any hacks, funky drivers, or registry changes) as if the Micro SDXC Card (or any removable storage device) were a part of your C:\ Drive. Windows will not, by default, allow you to install programs to a removable device because of the obvious reason- they can be removed at any time, potentially affecting stability if removed while in use. Surface Windows 8 Pro | What’s Next

Unfortunately back then wasn’t the time. The computers of the late 1990’s were purely function. They were not a part of our lives. Those computers were mediums by which work got done and Microsoft made money. The Compaq’s and Gateway’s of that era were just commodities and owning your own personal technology was for more privileged people. It is only when society took a major shift that Microsoft took notice. Their dream of “a computer on every...

The Surface Pro has finally been priced at $899 for a 64 Gb model and $999 for a 128 Gb model, and a lot of talk, both positive and negative, has been made about the price. The problem with most of the price analyses I’ve read is that they are considering the Surface Pro to be a slate or...
