Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer, sells $1.3 billion in company shares

Steve Ballmer, the current CEO of Microsoft, has sold $1.3 billion worth of shares in the software giant company. This marks the first time he’s sold company stock in nearly seven years, said Microsoft.

In three days–November 3rd, 4th, and 5th–Ballmer sold over 49 million shares at about $26 or $28, apiece. Prior to selling, Ballmer held more than 400 million shares in the company and plans on selling 75 million shares by the end of the year.

In a statement Steve Ballmer said that this decision was a “personal financial matter” and that he’s still “committed to Microsoft and its success.”

The company recently announced its best fiscal quarter yet with a 51% profit increase.
