Microsoft Mobile Teases New Device Launch

Microsoft Mobile Oy went to Nokia Conversations today to tease a new device launch. The post includes nothing more than the above photo and the following text:

Summer brings out our inner glow…

…stay tuned to Conversations to find out what we’ve got in store.

Underneath is countdown timer leading up to June 24th. All this leads me to ask the question: What are this?

It’s been rumoured that we could see a successor to the Nokia X device, the underpowered love child of Nokia’s tawdry affair with Android that Microsoft was forced to adopt under its care. If this is true, then we should be seeing some welcome upgrades to the device, dubbed the X2 (not to be confused with their previous offering with the same name).

  • 4.3″ WVGA display
  • 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 4GB of internal storage

Any other specs are currently unknown. Additionally, it has been said that we may see the launch of a new Lumia device alongside the X2, which would make for an interesting move launching both Android and Windows Phone devices together. And if I’m not mistaken, this also makes the first new device launches under Microsoft Mobile’s watch. Guess we’ll have to wait and see what they have in store for us.
